Description: These materials make students aware of the abuse of hens during modern egg production and include photos of hens in a battery cage, a debeaked hen with a neuroma, rows of hens in cages, and—for contrast—hens perched in a tree at a sanctuary.

Suggested Uses: These pictures can be used in conjunction with the battery cage activity in the “Perspectives on Animals” or “Where Do Eggs Come From?” lessons.

Making Transparencies: Use a color printer to print the PDF pages onto transparency paper, or print them on regular paper and color copy them onto transparency paper.
