2026 Teacher of the Year Contest Banner, TeachKind FINAL

National Teacher Appreciation Month is coming up in May, and TeachKind is looking for our next Teacher of the Year to celebrate!

Do you or someone you know teach students to be kind to animals?

If so, we want to hear from you!

Nominate yourself, a friend, a colleague, a teacher at your child’s school, or any other educator who advocates for animals in their work. Need a little inspiration? Read about last year’s inspiring winners and runners-ups.

The deadline to enter is Friday, April 3, so don’t delay!

When it comes to teaching children to be kind to animals, there’s more than one way to peel a potato! Some teachers lead their school’s animal protection club or organize fundraisers for their local animal shelter. Others have students research animal rights issues, such as experimenting on animals and the negative environmental impacts of animal agriculture, and build persuasive arguments for compassionate solutions. Maybe you use lifelike models like Kind Frog or digital dissection tools instead of dead animals to help students study the inner workings of other species. Or perhaps you show animal rights documentaries as part of your curriculum to develop students’ critical thinking skills.

No matter how you teach kindness, you’re making the world a better place for all sentient beings—and we want to hear about it. Your experience could move or motivate another educator to choose compassion. Don’t be shy; be an inspiration!

TeachKind’s Teacher of the Year Contest closes on Friday, April 3. Be sure to nominate yourself or another educator by filling out the form below before then. Let us know how your nominee has demonstrated compassion for animals or otherwise taken action to help them this school year. Once you complete the form, keep an eye out for an email from us—we may have a few follow-up questions.

We’ll choose up to three winners and up to three runners-up by assessing the responses to the question at the end of the form and selecting the entries with the most inspiring answers.

The winning teacher will receive an exciting collection of prizes, including books and posters, a custom tote bag, a framed certificate, and more, along with:
